Paw Paw Fruit Orchard in Perry, Michigan
What are Paw Paws?
Paw paw fruits, also known simply as paw paws, are the edible fruits of the paw paw tree (Asimina triloba). Paw paw trees are small, deciduous trees that grow in rich, well-drained soil in the eastern United States and Canada. They typically produce the paw paw fruit in the fall, and the fruits are ripe when they are soft and yellow-brown. They are the largest edible fruit indigenous to the United States, and they have a sweet, tropical flavor that is often described as a cross between banana, mango, and pineapple.
Paw paw fruits are a relatively new addition to the mainstream food market, but they are gaining popularity due to their unique flavor and nutritional benefits. If you are looking for a delicious and healthy fruit to try, the American paw paw is a great choice. Paw paw fruits are a good source of antioxidants, which can help to protect the body against damage from free radicals. Paw paws are best enjoyed fresh, and there are numerous recipes that incorporate them into desserts, smoothies, and other culinary creations. If you ever come across paw paw fruits, consider giving them a try for their unique taste and cultural significance in North American history.

Who is Behind Perry Paw Paws?
Hi! I’m Adam, the face behind Perry Paw Paws. I’ve been growing plants my whole life. Whether it was helping my grandma plant flower gardens, helping my mom propagate house plants or helping my dad plant wildlife habitat, I’ve had my hands in the dirt my whole life. While attending Michigan State University, I found horticulture and realized I could make a living playing in the dirt and growing plants.
While working at a tree nursery in college, I learned about the paw paw and quickly grew to love propagating the tree as well as eating the fruit. I soon saw the need for large quantities of trees to meet the ever increasing demand and a need for those trees to be of higher quality. When the opportunity to build a greenhouse presented itself, I knew it was time to dive head first into the world of growing the fruit.
I’m so glad you’re here. Hopefully I can help you achieve your goals of growing this fine fruit! You can also catch me at the Owosso Farmers Market and at my own farm – Perry Permaculture.
